The Pocono Arts Council has awarded Dr. James Gwynne, professor of visual arts at County College of Morris (CCM), the first place award for his painting “Delicate Sky” in its Members’ Exhibition.
“I’m very grateful to have been awarded first place for my painting at the members’ show,” said Gwynne, of East Stroudsburg, PA.
Pocono Arts Council members are invited to enter paintings for the exhibition each year.
A consistent award-winner, Gwynne also has received a number of awards for his paintings exhibited at the Westmoreland Art Nationals, including Best in Show.
Gwynne joined the CCM faculty in 1972. He also has taught at The College of Wooster and Centenary College.
He earned his B.A. from The College of Wooster, his M.A. from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from New York University. His work has been exhibited in more than 300 shows and is represented in many private, corporate and public collections, including the New Jersey State Museum and Pennsylvania State Museum.
