Update Your Employees’ Skills with the State Leader in No-Cost Training


Employees Benefit from Results-Oriented Classes - Posted 1/6/15
Area employers are encouraged to partner with the Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at County College of Morris (CCM) – the state’s leading provider of no-cost business skills training – to update their employees’ skills and advance their businesses.

Starting in mid-January, CBT will be offering results-oriented computer, communications and management skills classes through June 30 at CCM’s Randolph campus, 214 Center Grove Road. Onsite training also is available.

New classes this year include Business Professionalism, Innovative Thinking, Transition to Supervisor, Intro to Lean Principles, Strategies to Reduce Conflict, Essential Tools for Management Success, Techniques to Reduce Stress to Achieve Work-Life Balance, How to Prioritize When Everything Is Important, Intro to Logistics, English as a Second Language and Spanish for the Workplace.

Additional communications and management skills training covers such topics as Critical Thinking Skills, Problem Solving Made Easy, Strategic Planning, Communicating for Business Success, Dynamic Presentations, Demystifying Social Media, Emotional Intelligence: Boost Your Power of Persuasion, Project Management Fundamentals, and Business and Email Writing.

Computer classes include basic to advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Most classes are eight-hours long, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are scheduled on weekdays.

Employees can register for as many classes as their employers deem necessary. The only requirements are that employees must be employed at least 20 hours a week and paid their usual hourly rate while in training. For the computer training, employees also should have a basic knowledge of Windows and how to use a keyboard and mouse.

Morris County area employers continue to receive more training opportunities and program benefits than any other section of the state as a result of the work of CCM’s CBT. To date, more than 250 area companies have experienced the value of cost-free business skills training for approximately 3,000 employees and the positive impact on their businesses by taking advantage of CBT’s offerings.

The courses are offered by CBT through a partnership developed by the New Jersey Department of Labor with the New Jersey Business and Industry Association and the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development.
